The tabasco pepper is best known for its use in Tabasco sauce. Tabascos rate from 30,000 to 50,000 on the Scoville scale of heat levels where a Jalapeno pepper produces between 3,500-8,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU)!!!
Tabasco is the only variety of chili pepper whose fruits are “juicy”; i.e., they are not dry on the inside.
Tabasco peppers are green when young and when they ripen, turn orange and then red. The plant can grow to 80 cm in height. This is an exceptionally RARE hot chilli that produces large amount of small and hot pods.

They are very easy to grow & easy to maintain. Except winter, they will produce huge amount of chilies all the year round. The fruiting photos you are viewing is a snapshot from the plant. Plant them in a them in a sunny, well-drained position. If this plant survives frost then it will last 2/3 years & will produce chilies continuously.
Best time to sow seeds after frost. Seeds need min 20°C to germinate. Soak the seeds in water for a few hours before planting and sow them in 10mm deep in a sunny, well-drained position. Germinates between 10-14 days. Sow them 35-50cm apart. Enjoy your harvest approx 70 days from transplanting.
